★★★F-35が演習で110機を「撃墜」



F-35を含めた統合運用の演習ですか。電子戦機材は海軍に頼る必要があるので、日頃から共同訓練をしているのでしょうね。演習とはいえ14機のF-35Aで110機を撃墜できれば文句はでないでしょう。広報担当も張り切ってたくさん写真をとって記事も全部一人でまとめています。羨ましい仕事ですね。

Volk Field, Wis. --第33戦闘航空団がこれまでで最大規模のF-35展開を8月31日にウィスコンシンのフォークフィールドで今年のノーザンライトニング演習終結とともに終了した。

ノーザンライトニングは戦術レベルの合同訓練演習で各種機材及び地上装備を航空優勢が確保できていない環境で戦闘に投入するリハーサルである。
第33戦闘航空団は人員150名以上とF-35Aを14機を投入し二週間にわたり現実感あふれる状況でF-35をどう展開し維持するかで腕を磨いた。
空軍は同機の初期作戦能力獲得を今年8月に宣言し、中心は同機作戦能力の完全獲得に移り、今回の演習で得た結果は今後のF-35A飛行隊の展開に役立つことになる。
「同機とその性能にはまだ成熟化が必要な要素が残っている」とブラッド・バショア中佐(第58戦闘機中隊指揮官)が述べた。「現在のF-35でも相当の威力があり敵はおじけつくはず。今回の演習で同機が戦闘に投入できる状態だと実証できましたが、まだよちよち歩きの状態です」
ノーザンライトニング演習で第33飛行団は合計110機以上の「敵機」撃墜判定を得て、138ソーティーでGBU-12を24発投下した
演習中に同航空団は制空攻撃、敵防空網制圧、敵防空体制破壊、GPS誘導爆弾による近接航空支援を行っている。
「この演習でF-35の信頼度が高まりました」と第33航空団パイロットのマーク・シェネル大尉は言う。「相手に自機が見えていないと信じこむのは難しいものがありますが、第四世代機の前で飛ぶとF-35のステルス性能が宣伝通りすごいとわかります。ステルスだと仕事がやりやすいですし、敵に知られることなく優位な場所を確保することができます」
第33航空機整備隊の要員は演習中は高テンポで整備作業を行い、本拠地以外の場所で手際よく少ない時間と資源で各機の運用を期待通りに実現した。
「これだけの規模の航空機展開を支援したのは初めてです」と第33AMXS航空機整備隊で副官を務めるクリスタ・ウッデン中尉が語った。「補給系統で展開中をシミュレートして、出撃を成功裏に補給面から支援しました」
F-35AはF-16ファイティングファルコン、F/A-18スーパーホーネット、E/A-18Gグラウラー、E-3セントリーの各機種と同演習に参加し、共同で威力を発揮しつつ残存性の高い攻撃態勢を実現した。合同運用により得た知見は将来の各機共同作戦で効果を発揮するだろう。
「F-35Aと一緒に飛ぶことで他では得られない性能が実現しました」とオースティン・ケネディ大尉はE/A-18グラウラー電子戦士官として語っている。「F-35のおかげで第四世代機では対応不可能な強力な敵脅威への対応が可能になりました」「低視認性でこちらのジャミング効果が高くなり、仕事はずっと楽になりました」
ノーザンライトニング演習での動的脅威環境には第五世代戦闘機用に地上、空中で特別の脅威対象が準備され、空域は高度50千フィートまで及び、各軍用に実弾投下含む訓練領域を確保した。
「州軍航空隊の尽力により今回の演習が実現しました。ダルースとマディソンの州軍航空隊には敵役を演じてもらい感謝しています。演習で赤軍の役を演じるのは楽しいことばかりでなくとくに性能が劣る際はそうですが、各隊がいなかったら今回の演習は実現できなかったでしょう」■
